Projects

A project in Todo allows you to create a task with subtasks. In the case of projects, the subtasks can have due dates, priorities and can be assigned contexts and tags. Projects can be assigned to lists, a context and tags. Their subtasks will also have an effect on when the project is shown.

Note: Some sync services may not fully support projects and checklists. Appigo Sync and a Toodledo Pro Account are the two supported sync services that preserve the subtask relationships. Syncing Todo with any sync service that does not fully support projects and checklists will result in the subtask relationship being severed from the project or checklist and all tasks will show up in Todo as normal tasks.

Let's run through an example.

Create a new task in Todo.

Select the Type row below the name and pick Project as the Task type.

Save the task and in the details view of the task, select a due date for the project.

Select the Back button and you'll be taken to the Project main view.

In this view when you create tasks, you'll be creating subtasks for this project. Let's go ahead and add a couple of subtasks.

Notice I set the due date for "Pick up light fixtures" to be in the past. I did this so you could see how subtasks effect the positioning of a project. If we go back to the task view, notice below that the project is shown overdue even though the due date was set in the future. This happened because one of the subtasks is overdue. Notice how the due date is shown in italics. When a project's placement in Todo is being set due to a subtask, the due date will be shown using italics.

Let's select the project and complete the overdue task. Notice the next due tasks in the project.

Returning to the task view, the project has now moved and is no longer overdue. The badge has also been updated to reflect the number of uncompleted tasks.

That concludes our example. Projects are a powerful addition to the tools available in Todo to increase your productivity. If you have projects that span over a period of time, use Todo's Project feature to stay on top of them.

Reviews

"...if you're looking for [a to-do app] with more functionality, Appigo's Todo is one of the better options, and it doesn't require a Ph.D. in Getting things Done (GTD) to figure out how to use it...well worth its $10 price tag."
