Working with Fill-ups

How do I enter a new fillup?

Just tap on the "add fillup" button on the gas pump. It's the little plus (+) symbol.

Can I use liters, kilometers, or the Imperial (UK) Gallon?

Yes. When setting up a new vehicle, make sure to select the proper units for your country and vehicle.

Can I change the fill-up units?

Yes. While you cannot change the odometer type/distance unit after creating a new vehicle, you CAN change the fill-up distance and volume units. Do this by accessing the vehicle's name/fill-up units by tapping the 'i' button in the lower-right corner of the main screen. Tap the blue circled disclosure button on the vehicle row and modify your fill-up units as desired.

Can I modify a previously-entered fill-up?

Yes. After tapping the 'i' button in the lower-right corner of the main screen, tap your vehicle and then the fill-up you wish to modify. Make any necessary changes and then touch the "Save" button.

Can I delete a fill-up?

Yes. This can be done fairly easily:

-Tap the 'i' button at the bottom-right of your screen

-Select the vehicle from which you want to delete the fill-up

-Tap the "Edit" button at the top-right of the screen

-Press the delete "circle icon" on the left of the fill-up you wish to delete

-A delete button will appear which you can then tap to delete the fill-up

Working with Vehicles

Does AccuFuel support multiple vehicles?

Yes. After tapping the 'i' button in the lower-right corner of the main screen, enter "Edit" mode by tapping the "Edit" button at the upper-left hand corner of the vehicle list screen. Then, tap the "add vehicle" button (the '+' button) that appears at the upper-left corner of the screen. Select your vehicle by choosing the year, make, model, and engine size. Finally, choose your odometer type and distance units. If you would like to change the name of your vehicle or the units that you'd like to enter fill-up data with (MPG, km/L, L/100km), do so by tapping the vehicle name row. Finally, save the new vehicle and tap the "Done" buttons until the main AccuFuel screen appears. You are now ready to enter in a new fill-up.

Can I add a vehicle that is not featured in AccuFuel's vehicle list?

Yes. After tapping the 'i' button in the lower-right corner of the main screen, follow the same instructions as mentioned above to add a new vehicle. Instead of selecting a specific year, scroll down to the bottom (under 1998) and tap the "Other" row. Enter your vehicle data as desired.

Backup/Export

Can I export my fill-up data?

Yes! Touch the 'i' button at the bottom right of the screen. Choose your vehicle from the list. Scroll to the end of your fill-ups and tap the "Export to email..." button. A new email is composed with your fill-up history ready to send to whomever you choose.

Can I import my fill-up data?

  • Yes. As of AccuFuel 1.1.2, importing fill-up data is supported. Emails sent using the "Export Data" button in AccuFuel now contain special import links which allow you to import saved entries. Additionally, you may use the AccuFuel Import page on our website.
  • Each fill-up must be on its own line.
  • Values specified below are case-sensitive and must be entered as shown.
  • Ensure the units specified match the vehicle in AccuFuel (odometer type, etc.).
  • Fields on each line must be separated with commas (,) and formatted as follows:

  • Odometer

How do I set up a vehicle to use the standard odometer?

Follow the instructions to create a new vehicle. While creating a new vehicle, you must choose between the standard/trip odometer. You must also choose the distance units of your odometer type (miles/kilometers).

Once I have a vehicle created using the trip/standard odometer, can I switch that method?

No. Selecting an odometer type is done when you create a vehicle and cannot be changed. Make your selection wisely. :)

    Installing and Upgrading

What steps can I take to avoid losing my fill-up data when upgrading to a newer version of AccuFuel?

    1. Back up your iPhone or iPod touch by performing a full sync with iTunes before installing any application updates.
    2. Disconnect your iPhone or iPod touch and install the update using the App Store on the device.
    3. Run the updated software on your device. If you did not lose any data, then you are finished. If you did lose your data, you can restore it from the backup you made in step 1. If you just reconnect and sync though, you'll lose your backup data too because iTunes will overwrite it with the current data (which was lost). So, to prevent that, you need to do the following:
      • Disable automatic syncing in iTunes for your iPhone or iPod touch before re-connecting your device. You can do this by going into iTunes Preference -> Synching and check "Disable automatic syncing for all iPhones and iPods."
      • Connect your iPhone or iPod touch and wait until it appears in iTunes.
      • Right-click (or hold down control and click) on the iPhone or iPod touch and select "Restore from Backup..." This will start a restore which will return your device to the state it was in before installing the updated application.

-NOTE: With AccuFuel 1.1.1 or newer, you can also take an active step in preventing data loss by exporting fill-ups to an email. Please read the "Can I export my fill-up data?" for instructions on how to do this. We are working on the next update to AccuFuel which will allow you to re-import this exported data.

Is AccuFuel 1.1.1 a free update to previous owners of AccuFuel?

Yes. We recommend first synchronizing your iPhone/iPod touch with iTunes before performing the update. Please make sure that you do not delete the application. Deleting your application (if you read the small print of the pop-up window that appears) will not only delete your application, but also the associated data. Also, please do not turn off your iPhone or otherwise use it during the update. Some users have experienced problems by not allowing the update to finish completely before using their iPhone/iPod touch.

Additionally, if the update does not already show up in the App Store on your device, just search for "AccuFuel" in the App Store. Once you've found it, press the $0.99 button and then "Buy Now". It will prompt you for your account password. After you enter your password, a pop-up screen will appear to say that you've already purchased this application and you can then download it for free.

The latest version of AccuFuel doesn't automatically show up in my updates, can I still install it?

Yes. Search for AccuFuel in the App Store, click the $0.99 button, then "Buy Now". It should prompt you for your password. As long as you use the same account you originally did, it will recognize that you've already purchased the application and allow you to download it again for free.

Can I re-download AccuFuel without being charged again?

As long as you use the same account you originally did, it will recognize that you've already purchased the application and allow you to download it again for free.

I just purchased AccuFuel and it won't start. What do I do?

    - This problem appears to happen randomly with any application (not just AccuFuel) downloaded from the App Store. In most cases, this problem can be remedied by powering off your iPhone/iPod touch and turning it back on again (it sometimes takes a couple times of doing this to work).

-If this does not solve the problem, please try removing the application and downloading it again. As long as you use the same iTunes Account ID, you should not be charged again.
